Hello Blogfans!
Thank you for your emails,. Like I said, I love getting them and it does my heart good. Also, I am glad all my posts are appreciated...I will continue. It is around 10:00am here on Wednesday and I do not have too much to report as of today. Yesterday I woke up, ate some breakfast and headed to Korean class. Learning a whole new alphabet is very challenging. My teacher is a very sweet lady and makes it fun, but in a sense it is like I am in kindergarten again. Either way, I plan to work hard it because it will be great to learn a new language. Obviously, I will not master it in four months, yet maybe I will continue to study it after my return home. We'll see, either way the more I learn now the better for my travels while I am here.
After class, I hit the gym, had some lunch and then was off to my Korea and the UN class, which I no longer will be taking. Not to be lazy, but I am not here to write papers. This class has too many writing assignments and presentations for me. After taking an honors English class and honors history class last semester, I vowed that I was done writing papers in my educational career. This class not only requires writing, but research papers and there is no chance I want to do that. Especially since these credits do not even go towards my degree. So, I plan on switching to Understanding Global Society today. I know I know, it is a bit lazy but I do not want to spend my time here researching and writing. I like numbers and tests, not essays.
After that class, I spent some time studying some Korean and then went to dinner. Eating out here is so different. Besides being so much cheaper and not having to pay taxes or tips, a lot of restaurants require you to sit on the floor and the food actually cooks in front of you. My long legs start aching after a short time but I am getting used to it. Everything I have had so far has been tasty, but I have to say the portions just are not enough for me. I am also experiencing a lack of protein. I go to the gym, burn all these calories, and then want to feed myself so I have a little trouble. But thankfully, a really nice guy from Osaka, Japan gave me a huge jar of protein powder yesterday. He has a lot and was so willing to share. I offered to pay him but he declined and just said that when he runs out we will share the one I have. Being around good people is nice. Plus, I am a big fan of Japan now. I do not know if I have mentioned this but there are three guys from Japan here and they have great sense of humors. They enjoy themselves so much and are a pleasure to be around. Of course, I am sure not every Japanese person is like them but they represent their country very well. Hopefully Jake and I will venture over there when he comes in April.
After dinner last night I watched a movie in the lounge with some people. We watched Slumdog Millionaire. Although I have already seen it, I got sucked in and watched it again. I really enjoyed it the second time around. After that, just went to bed and woke up at 6:45 for an early leg workout with Heede (spelling?), the Japanese student who gave me the protein. I ate a nice big American breakfast, spoke to Brittney for a little while, and am now writing this post. So it was a fairly uneventful day, but good nonetheless. I am off to shower and have my first Taekwondo class later today so i'm excited about that. Then I am going to Cheonan this evening, the nearest city to the school. I should have some pictures of it for my next post.
Miss you all very much. Keep the emails coming. Let me know how everything is in your worlds. Love to all and I will blog again soon!
