Hello hello,
It is 3:11pm here and I just woke up from a needed three hour nap. So I feel nice and rested. It is Thursday, and I had Korean Writing class this morning. We basically just learned and practiced more letters. The teacher was very enthusiastic and even had big cards with each letter on them...even she said they were for children. But they work because we are all babies with this language. After class, I went to eat with some people and had this Korean style sushi along with some fried chicken. It was all delicious. Then, I came back up to the dorm, did a few things, and crashed.
We went to Cheonan yesterday by subway; it takes about thirty minutes. It is a neat city. We went to the mall which was enormous and also expensive. I am glad I went so that I now know where it is. I will probably just go there to shop if i need stuff or to go to the movie theater. They have movies in English and you actually get an assigned seat. As the photos show, we went to McDonald's. This was a cultural experience because it is different then America. You can either get there regular beef (which I am told tastes like sausage) or the Bulgogi meat (pork) which I tried and did not enjoy too much. I had a Big Mac meal but the sauce was also different. Next time I will try the other kind of meat but I am assuming I want enjoy it much either. Their fries on the other hand were the same. Anyways, it was good to give it a shot.
After we ate the group I was with wanted to see a movie. I was not up for it because I had woken up early that morning to workout and was tired. Chester, the guy in the picture, helped me get a bus ticket back to Sinchan, where the school is located. So I hopped on a bus and that was an adventure. The driver seemed like he was out of a Jet Li movie. The way people drive here is wild. He would hit the gas hard and you'd better stay out of his way because he was not slowing down for anyone. I have never seen a bus change lanes like that or run a red light. But my friend in the driver's seat who got me home sure did. As I have mentioned, in Korea pedestrians have to watch out for vehicles.
I made it back to the school fine and ate some dinner. I attempted to hang with my roommate and asked him if he wanted to go get some food but he was too heavily engaged in his World of Warcraft computer game which he explained to me he has been playing since 2005. But later, as I was winding down for bed, he asked me if I wanted to watch a movie with him on his laptop. It was on English with Korean subtitles, and although at first I declined, I figured it was a chance to bond with him. So we sat at the desk and enjoyed Death Race for the second time around. He looked at me and said, "I like action movie," and I told him I fully agreed. After that, it was off to sleep which brought me to today.
That is all for now. I'm off to the gym in a bit and then who knows from there. I have been thinking about where I want to got this weekend. I will probably hit some museums or other historical sites in Seoul. Miss you guys.
